It may happen that during a phone call , a FaceTime call , recording an audio message , using Siri the microphone does not work.
The result may be depending on the case:The other party cannot hear you during a normal or FaceTime call;
Siri does not hear the request or does not understand it at all;

Test the operation of the microphones
Make sure that the problem is with the microphone itself and not with the applications you are using.
The microphones (bottom, front, rear) can be tested in the following ways:
